Alycia completed her Bachelor’s degree in psychology at UQÀM and is now pursuing a doctoral degree in psychology (scientific-professional program, PhD/PsyD) under the co-supervision of Sébastien Monette and Chantal Cyr. Her research interests focus on children in CPS care and how to measure maltreatment. Through her doctoral thesis project, she plans to examine rates of maltreatment using two methods (administrative data vs. coding of narrative reports of CPS workers with the standardized grid EMMCS) and to verify the presence of maltreatment experience profiles (Latent Profile Analysis) in a sample of children in out-of-home care.

Melly completed her bachelor's degree in psychology at UdeM and is pursuing a doctorate in psychology (scientific-professional profile, Ph.D. R.I.) co-supervised by Marie-Julie Béliveau and Sébastien Monette. Her doctoral thesis focuses on the links between certain variables/scores of the Rorschach Performance Assessment System (R-PAS) and: 1) symptoms of attachment disorders (reactive attachment disorder, RAD and disinhibited social engagement disorder, DSED) and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and 2) the maltreatment history in children followed by child protective services.

Andréanne is a graduate student in psychology at UdeM, enrolled in the Honours program. Her research interests focus on the impacts of maltreatment and parenting behaviours on child development, as well as attachment disorders. Under the supervision of Sébastien Monette, her honor research project examines the comparison between clinical diagnoses of attachment disorders (reactive attachment disorder [RAD] and disinhibited social engagement disorder [DSED]) and those established using the RAD and DSED Assessment (RADA) interview, as well as the factors associated with diagnostic concordance or discordance between these rates.

Sarah El-Faize
Undergraduate student (honours program)
Sarah is an undergraduate psychology student in the Honors program at the Université de Montréal. Under the supervision of Sébastien Monette, her project focuses on comparing the experiences of maltreatment among children aged 5 to 12 placed in foster care and rehabilitation centers. Working as a specialized educator in a child rehabilitation center, she is primarily interested in the risk and protective factors related to the optimal development of children monitored under the Youth Protection Act. Her interests also include the development of family dynamics and the assessment of parenting capacities.
Sarah El-Faize

Zoé is an undergraduate student in psychology at the Université de Montréal, enrolled in the Honors program. She is particularly interested in the links between childhood adversity experiences and the development of psychopathology in youth. Under the supervision of Sébastien Monette, her research project focuses on the construction of a global indicator of adversity based on the Extended Modified Maltreatment Classification System (EMMCS). This project aims to develop a measure to better represent the adversity experienced by youth in order to foster a more nuanced understanding of its impacts on their development and mental health.
Raphaël Sirois

Raphaël completed a bachelor's degree in psychology at the Université de Sherbrooke in 2023 and has been working as a psychosocial intervention worker for Child protective services since 2024. His research interests focus primarily on attachment disorders, notably Reactive Attachment Disorder (RAD) and Disinhibited Social Engagement Disorder (DSED), as well as the consequences of maltreatment on the socioemotional development of children. He is also interested in self-regulation and impulsivity processes in children who have encountered early adverse experiences.

Psychologist in the process of equivalence at the Ordre des Psychologues du Québec (OPQ), Laurence is carrying out a research internship on the coding of reporting assessment reports with the EMMCS (with Alice Dassonville for the consensual coding part). Her research activity focuses on the links between the levels of parental capacities and the type of maltreatment behaviors manifested by the parent.

French psychologist, candidate for equivalence with the Ordre des Psychologues du Québec (OPQ), Alice is doing a research internship on the coding of reporting assessment reports with the EMMCS. More specifically, she is attempting to replicate Alycia's article #1 (in an independent sample), that is to say: compare the rates of each type of mistreatment according to the two data sources (administrative data and narrative reports coded with the EMMCS) and compare the predictive validity of the mistreatment indicators generated by these two data sources.
Typhaine Le Hegarat

Typhaine graduated in 2016 with a Master's degree in clinical psychopathology in France and practiced there for 8 years. She is in the process of obtaining equivalence for her diploma from the Ordre des Psychologues du Québec (OPQ). Her research activity consists of codifying the parental capacity assessment (PCA) reports of youth protection workers, using a grid developed specifically for this type of report, exploring the inter-rater reliability of this grid and documenting the link between the levels of parental capacity of the parents assessed and developmental delays in children.
Carolina Estrada

A psychologist of Mexican origin and a candidate for equivalence with the Ordre des psychologues du Québec, Carolina is completing a research internship focused on the coding of child protection evaluation reports using the EMMCS. More specifically, her research examines the comparison of PTSD symptom levels between children placed in foster care and those placed in rehabilitation centers, as well as the links between maltreatment dimensions (type, severity, frequency, and chronicity) and PTSD symptoms.
Mathieu Paolini

A psychologist originally from France and a candidate for equivalence with the Ordre des psychologues du Québec, Mathieu is completing a research internship focused on the coding of child protection evaluation reports using the EMMCS. More specifically, his research focuses on the links between the EMMCS parental risk factors for maltreatment (substance abuse, mental health problems, incarceration, parent maltreated or placed in care during childhood, etc.) and children's internalizing (anxiety-depression) and externalizing (aggression, opposition) symptoms.

Lory Zephyr

Dr. Lory Zephyr completed her doctorate at UQAM under the supervision of Chantal Cyr and Sebastien Monette. Her thesis articles focused on 1) predictors of disinhibited social engagement behavior in vulnerable children and 2) a meta-analysis on the association between disinhibited social engagement behavior and disorganized attachment. She is now a psychologist specializing in maternal mental health, attachment, and perinatality. She practices at the Clinique de psychologie de l’Est. Dr. Rosalie Guillemette completed her doctorate at UdS under the co-supervision of Miguel M. Terradas and Sébastien Monette. Her thesis articles focused: 1) on comparing the symptoms of attachment disorders and the insecure/disorganized attachment styles across three groups of children (children from the general population, children in out-of-home care, and children from a clinical population) and; 2) the links between attachment insecurity/disorganization and: internalized/externalized behaviors and symptoms of attachment disorders.

Dr. Maude Archambault completed her doctorate UQÀM under the supervision of Chantal Cyr and Sebastien Monette. Her thesis articles focused on: 1) the validation of the RAD and DSED Assessment (RADA) Interview, an instrument designed to assess reactive attachment disorder (RAD) and disinhibited social engagement disorder (DSED) and, 2) a meta-analysis of RAD and DSED prevalence.
