Work at the Psychopathology and Maltreatment (PM) Lab focus on the study of mental and neurodevelopmental disorders among children in the care of Child Protective Services (CPS), as well as child maltreatment, psychological and neuropsychological assessment, and CPS outcomes.

OUR RESEARCH PROJECTS

Our research focuses on the mental disorders (e.g., attachment disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder, disruptive mood dysregulation disorder) and neurodevelopmental disorders (e.g., ADHD, dyslexia) among children in CPS care. We seek to determine the prevalence of these mental disorders, identify their risk and protective factors, and develop or refine psychometric instruments (questionnaires, standardized interviews, psychological tests) for screening, assessing and diagnosing them.

Our work also looks at how to measure and describe the phenomenon of maltreatment and CPS outcomes (e.g., parenting capacity assessments, re-report of closed cases, re-replacement/reunification breakdown).
